Together: Youth Advocacy Media Action – Creating digital content that matters
Erasmus+ youth participation project
TAMA (Together: Youth Advocacy Media Action) brought together young people from Germany and Portugal to explore how creative media can amplify youth voices and inspire social change. Through an international exchange combining media training, collaborative learning and individual project development, participants strengthened their digital storytelling, media literacy and advocacy skills while building intercultural connections.
The project began with a kick-off meeting and training week in Düsseldorf, Germany, in October 2025. Through hands-on media workshops led by Refocus Media Lab, participants explored how to turn their ideas and personal experiences into compelling digital content. Alongside filming, editing and storytelling, shared meals, yoga, bodywork sessions and cultural activities created space for exchange, trust and group bonding.
In February 2026, the group continued its journey in Leiria, Portugal. Supported by Refocus Media Lab, participants developed their individual media projects, transforming ideas into stories and stories into action. Exploring the local culture and sharing experiences helped deepen mutual understanding and foster a sense of community across borders.
The project concluded in June 2026 with a final gathering and public exhibition at LEERSTAND in Oberhausen, Germany. Twelve young people shared their stories, experiences and perspectives on topics including life at home, new beginnings, friendship and society. Their work demonstrated how digital media can create opportunities for self-expression, advocacy and dialogue.
Beyond the media outputs, TAMA’s lasting impact lies in the skills, empathy and relationships developed throughout the process. By creating together, learning from one another and sharing their perspectives, participants strengthened their confidence as active citizens and discovered new ways to contribute to public discourse.
