– we see collective responsibility, like in a village, as the ideal of a transcultural society –

Village e.V. is a laboratory for future visions of a fairer transnational society, where ideas are tested and implemented as model projects at home and abroad. Guided by our motto, The world is your home, our work transcends borders while maintaining a strong regional focus on Dortmund, the Ruhr region, and North Rhine-Westphalia. Currently, we are engaged in neighborhood development at our headquarters in Dortmund's Unionsviertel district, as well as supporting schoolchildren in Baïgom, Cameroon, and collaborating with our Portuguese and Spanish partners on youth projects centered around collective sponsorship, well-being, regenerative design and skills development.

Our projects see the transfer of knowledge between the global North and South as an overarching goal, be it at a local or international level. We want to learn from each other, counter entrenched patterns and beliefs, scrutinise and decode. Topics such as causes of flight, conditions of migration or resettlement, processing post-colonial heritage and unequal access to living and educational resources are of concern to us. With the understanding of centuries of exploitation in the history of the global South, we feel responsible for improving living conditions, not only for people who have been displaced.
